All Things You Should Know About CV

Aug 29, 2022

What does CV stand for?

A curriculum vitae (latin for “”course of life””) is a document that is used when applying for jobs. It encourages you to summarise your education, skills, and experience in order to effectively showcase your abilities to potential employers.

Making a good first impression is critical in today’s competitive job market. Your CV will be your first point of contact with prospective employers, so make it count.

? The difference between Resume and CV

A curriculum vitae, also known as a CV, is a document that summarises a person’s life history based on his experience, qualifications, and achievements.

A resume, on the other hand, is a document that details a person’s experience, qualifications, and accomplishments in a specific profession.

? Then, should I use Creative CV or ATS CV?

The Applicant Tracking System, or ATS, is a system that allows Human Resources to quickly select a CV based on company criteria. A creative CV is one that is not only plain, but also has a distinct design and color pattern, as well as an elegant appearance.

? Pay close attention to the following for guidance on when to apply the two CVs mentioned below:

✅ Things you should include into your CV

⚠️ Remember to distinguish between summary and objective. A summary is a concise statement of your credentials that explains why you are qualified for the position.

Example:

Analytically oriented maintenance mechanic with 5+ years of experience working with complex equipment and instrumentation. Highly adaptable and dedicated to producing error-free results, a safe work environment, and high-quality service.

⚠️ An objective is a brief statement that expresses your professional goals, such as the type of job or industry in which you wish to work.

Example:

Currently looking for a forward-thinking company in the manufacturing industry. The role in question should ideally provide room for advancement as well as a track record of excellence.

✨ Quick tips to increase your CV value:

  1. Prioritise measurable accomplishments over responsibilities.
  2. Use action verbs, such as “”created”” rather than “”creating,”” and “”implemented”” rather than “”implementing.”” Check out our post for more action words.
  3. Make your resume pertinent to the job posting. Examine the job description carefully to determine the level of responsibility expected.

How did you find it? Creating a CV is neither simple nor difficult. Perfect practice makes perfect. When applying for a job, you should always update your CV. If you have any questions about CVs, please leave them in the comments section. We will gladly respond!
